GCSE Arabic boundaries
Foundation Tier
GCSE Arabic grade boundaries in the UK exams are assessed using grade boundaries, which show the minimum number of marks needed to achieve each grade. These boundaries ensure fairness, adjusting slightly each year depending on exam difficulty. A GCSE Grade 4 is considered a standard pass, while a Grade 5 is a strong pass.
- The highest grade you can get is Grade 5.
- You can achieve Grades 1–5 only.
- So if you sit Foundation, the maximum pass strength is a Grade 5 (strong pass).
Higher Tier
- You can achieve Grades 4–9.
- If you don’t reach Grade 4, you may be given a “U” (ungraded).
- So for Higher:
- Grade 4 = standard pass
- Grade 5 = strong pass
- Grades 6–9 = above average to exceptional
Summary
- Pass = Grade 4 or higher.
- Foundation caps you at Grade 5.
- Higher gives access to 6–9, but carries a risk: if you don’t quite reach a 4, you may get a U instead of dropping into the Grade 3 range.
